Orlando Pirates confirmed a number of moves on Monday evening, revealing six players who will depart the club while also announcing the arrival of Bafana Bafana striker Evidence Makgopa alongside three others.
The Sea Robbers may have made it to the Caf Confederation Cup final last season, but their failure to challenge Mamelodi Sundowns, who won a second domestic treble in three seasons, became the main takeaway as it was clear the Buccaneers needed changes.
The club have been quick to make those changes, announcing the departures of co-coach Fadlu Davids and former Bafana Bafana skipper Thulani Hlatshwayo last week.
The changes didn’t stop there as the club looked to yet again refresh in the transfer market.

It was confirmed that “the quartet will form part of pre-season preparations which commence this week”.
Meanwhile, the club also revealed a list of players who won’t be at the club next season:
– Kwanda Mngonyama
– Abel Mabaso
– Justice Chabalala
– Elson Sithole
– Wayne Sandilands
– Thabang Monare
Sandilands’ contract ends on 30 June and will not be renewed. However, Pirates are currently in discussions with management regarding another role for him at the club while contractual talks with Monare collapsed as the two parties could not agree on terms.
